Obituary for Shirley Watkins
Funeral service for Ms Shirley Watkins
Ms. Shirley Marie Watkins age 77 of Clarksville TX transitioned to be with the Lord on May 17, 2026 in Clarksville, TX.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 11:00 am at Zion Traveler Baptist Church, 501 South Walnut Street, Clarksville, TX under the direction of Citizens Funeral Home, 500 E. Church Street, Clarksville, TX.
Shirley Marie Watkins was born on September 1, 1948, in Clarksville, Texas, to the late Johnny and Dorothy Williams Watkins.
She was a woman of quiet strength, kindness, and love whose beautiful smile brought comfort and joy to all who knew her. As Psalm 23 reminds us, "The Lord is my shepherd... He leadeth me beside the still waters.
"Shirley carried that same peaceful spirit throughout her life.
She was a faithful member of Zion Traveler Baptist Church, and for 27 dedicated years, Shirley faithfully served Clarksville ISD before retiring. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, spending time with family and friends, and most of all caring for her beloved grandchil-dren. Her loving and gentle nature made her a blessing to many.
Proverbs 31:26 says, "In her tongue is the law of kindness," a scripture that truly reflected Shirley's life.
Shirley was met at Heaven's gate by her daughters, Stephanie Watkins Wade and Beverly Watkins, and her grandson, Glenkeruis Scott.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory five devoted children:
Angela Watkins; Kelvin Watkins (Lafonda); Aron Watkins (Charity); Marcia Watkins Hayes (Antoine); and LaSheila Gray; eight loving siblings: Laura Pearl Bell (James), Robert Watkins, Imogene Watkins, Johnny Watkins (Carolyn), Amos Watkins, Raymond Watkins, Gary Watkins (Debra), and Beadie Watkins; along with 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Though Shirley's presence will be deeply missed, her love and memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she cherished. The family finds peace in the words of John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace l give unto you.
