Samari Tarell Durham was born April 25, 2004, in Oklahoma City, OK to LaShinda T. Hubbard and Teraton D. Durham. Samari was the oldest of 7 children, NaRyiah Brown-Benson, Zaylen Durham, Shakeela Durham, Gabriel Williams, Siriyah Durham and Jada Williams.
Samari also shared the past 7 years being a big brother to his bonus sister Xya Campbell.
Mr. Samari Tarell Durham is the grandson of Winona Young (OKC), Tony Hubbard (Hugo, OK), Karen Holiday (Gay, Ok), & Teraton Durham Sr. (Sherman, TX).
He's also the great grandson of Etta Daniels (OKC).
Samari was preceded in death by his Great Great Grandma Gertude Frierson, Great Grandma Trudy Ann Stewart, and his older cousin De’Eric Harris.
Samari was born in OKC but, he was raised in Hugo, OK. At an early age he attended and joined Corinth Baptist Church under the leadership and ministry of Pastor Clevondo Benson.
He loved people and he loved to smile. He may not have always expressed or said how he felt. But if you knew Samari…you knew exactly what he meant and how he was feeling about a lot of things. He is, was, and always will be My Baby!
Samari attended Hugo Public School systems until his freshman year. That’s when him and Taeshon Richardson decided to run away together. (The worst 24 hours of my life). So, when I caught Taeshon walking down the street 1st, then Samari. I decided to move us all to OKC, where Samari attended Millwood High School beginning of his sophomore year and later graduated in May, Class of 2022!!!
He worked so hard after graduating high school. Samari loved making his money. He would work, come home, shower, and play that game. He would ask “momma did you cook today?” Or “momma what you cook?” I’m going to miss him.
God called Samari home on October 4th, 2024. In the midst of doing what he loved to do. Work, driving, making his money.
He leaves to cherish his memories…his parents, his siblings, too many Aunties and Uncles to list or name. A host of cousins, family and friends. He also left us with an Honorary
Daughter (Ma’Leigha).
