Funeral service for 97 year old Ms. Ruby Jewel Dilworth of Dallas, TX, formerly of Clarksville, TX will be Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Citizens Funeral Home Chapel, 500 E. Church Street, Clarksville, TX. Interment: Haywood Cemetery.
Viewing will be Friday, August 11, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. at Citizens Funeral Home Chapel.
Ruby Jewel Whitfield-Dilworth was born on May 23, 1926 in Red River County and one of five children to the late Charlie (Red) Whitfield and Viola Woods-Whitfield. She was educated in the Haywood, Texas education system. Ruby Jewel was happily married to J.R. Dilworth who was her partner in love for over 50 years, until the time of his death. The two of them had eleven children.
Ruby Jewel loved the Lord and her family dearly. She was an Ordained Evangelist as well as a nurse. Ruby Jewel was a faithful and lifetime member of Haywood Baptist Church. She was compassionate to everyone that she encountered. She was best known for lovingly correcting her children and grandchildren. Ruby Jewel enjoyed serving God, cooking, gardening, and family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie (Red) Whitfield and Viola Woods-Whitfield; her siblings, Opal Lee, Alvis, Cleveland, and Charlie Lou; her husband, J.R. Dilworth; her sons, Hosley Barnes, Leotis Dilworth, Fred Dilworth, and Cleveland Dilworth; her daughters, QT Dilworth, Diane Dilworth, and Viola Rose.
Ruby Jewel leaves to cherish her memory: her son Quitman Dilworth and three daughters Iola Rose, Alvis (B.B.) Hodge, and Ruby Michelle Dilworth. She has twenty-six grandchildren and a multitude of great and great-great-grandchildren, not to mention the countless friends and extended family.
