Nina Jackson Obituary

Funeral service for 91 year old Nina J. Jackson who went to be with her Lord February 21, 2023 at her residence in Clarksville, TX will be Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Zion Traveler Baptist Church, 501 S. Walnut Street, Clarksville, TX with Pastor James Johnson, eulogist.  Interment will be in Thompson Townes Cemetery under the direction of Citizens Funeral Home, 500 E. Church St., Clarksville, TX.

Public Viewing will be Friday, March 3, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in Citizens Funeral Home chapel. 

Masks are recommended. 

Nina Jean Jackson, affectionately known as “Granny”, nicknamed ”Sister”, given to her by her Dad, was born in Taylor, Arkansas on October 11, 1931 to the late Isaac and Hattie Lou  Anderson.  Granny attended school in Taylor, Arkansas until her family relocated to Texarkana, AR in 1935.

On the 2nd Sunday in August 1944, Nina and family relocated to Clarksville where she joined Lily of the Valley which later became Hope Valley Baptist Church where Nina served as the Mother of the Church, choir member, enjoyed being a “Golden Girl”, and was a faithful member until her health failed her. Nina also served as Joint Mission secretary.

Nina was the mother of ten children and despite her large family, Nina always made time for everyone.  She always provided support and love for her family and others, never ever met a stranger.  Nina greatest accomplishment were daughter, wife, a mother and grandmother, sister, aunt, a Golden Girl….and “Mother of the Church”.

She met and married the love of her life, Willie Beachem Jackson on July 6, 1948, who preceded her in death in 2005.  Her sisters and brothers preceded her in death; as well as her son, Carl Wayne Sr. and daughter, Chyrel Diane.

She is survived by :

Five daughters:  Doris (Ike) and Carolyn of Kansas City, KS; Willie, Pamela, and Vivian of Clarksville, TX

Three sons:  Edward of Texarkana, TX, Terry and Greg (Linda) of Clarksville, TX;

 39 grandchildren; 97 great grandchildren, and 52 great-great grandchildren.

Adopted daughters, Ms. Hazel and Ms. Barbara Huff; The Golden Girls: Tartener Johnson, Ruby Jackson, Nina Judson, and Virgie Bagby:

Sisters in-law: Ms. Ruby Jackson and Ms.  Patricia Jackson, Malakoff, TX;

Best Friends:  Ms. Shirley Duckett, Ms. Virgie Bagby, and Ms. Ruby Jackson. Host of other relatives and friends
